Fire-Resistant Cigarettes
Fires started by cigarettes are the number one cause of fire-related deaths in Minnesota. Minnesota fire fighters tried to pass legislation to establish fire safety standards for cigarettes, but were unsuccessful.

New York Announced Fire Safety Standards

After four years New York finally released their fire saftey standards for cigarettes which will go into effect on June 28th of this year. Click here to read more about New York's fire-resistant cigarette standards.

"Minnesota could wait 14 more years before adopting this change and accept at least 200 more deaths. Or it could follow New York's lead and say simply, not here. No more. The issue seems like a no-brainer. Let's hope the Legislature separates lobbyist pressures from common sense this time."
