Minnesota Resources
The following Minnesota-based organizations offer information on a variety of tobacco-related issues, including tobacco prevention, cessation and secondhand smoke.

American Lung Association of Minnesota
The American Lung Association of Minnesota is one of the oldest voluntary health organizations in the country, expanding its mission to meet emerging challenges to lung health. Today, ALA-MN works hard to improve air quality indoors and outdoors, offers support groups for people with lung disease and people who want to quit smoking, provide seminars for health care professionals, and run summer camps for kids with asthma.

Dakota County Smoke-Free Communities Partnership
Started in 2005 by the Ramsey Medical Society, the Partnership has developed into a diverse coalition of concerned health organizations, medical professionals, community leaders, workers and citizens advocating for adopt all-inclusive smoke-free policies in Dakota County communities.

Fresh Air Minnesota
Hospitality workers who support smoke-free policies are speaking out on the Fresh Air Minnesota web site, funded by ClearWay Minnesota.

Association for Nonsmokers-Minnesota
Information on workplace smoking policies, secondhand smoke in apartments, teens and tobacco, and the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act, and links to other sites. It also features the only statewide directory of smoke-free restaurants and allows users to submit names of those not on the list

Citizens for a Smoke-Free Goodhue County
Citizens for a Smoke-free Goodhue County is a group of concerned citizens who believe that everyone deserves smoke-free air at work.

Citizens for a Smoke-Free Maple Grove
This coallition was formed to create smoke-free public places, including restaurants, bowling alleys, bars and all public places in which Maple Grove residents live, work and breathe.

ClearWay Minnesota
ClearWay Minnesota facilitates research and supports smoking intervention strategies to reduce the harmful health effects tobacco has on Minnesotans.

Minnesota Department of Health
Provides information about the human and economic toll of tobacco on Minnesota. Interestingly, the department continues to include information about the successful but nonexistent Youth Tobacco Prevention Endowment. The endowment was eliminated by Gov. Pawlenty and state Legislators in 2003 to make up a budget deficit.

Minnesota Public Radio's Budget Balancer
Those who want to try their hand at balancing the buget should use this link, you will have more than 100 options for shifting, spending, or raising revenue.  You can see potential consequences for every choice you make.  You can use the budget balancer anytime through the end of legislative session, as well as send your budget to legislators.

Minnesota Smoke-Free Apartment Directory
The Association for NonSmokers-Minnesota compiles this directory of smoke-free apartment buildings in Minnesota. In addition to the directory, the group's Initiative for Smoke-Free Apartments has information for renters experiencing secondhand smoke problems and can provide building owners/managers with suggestions for making their buildings smoke-free, including a model smoke-free lease addendum.
