American Cancer Society
Provides education, prevention and cessation programs and distributes pamphlets and posters.

American Council on Science and Health

American Heart Association
Promotes smoking intervention programs at schools, workplaces and health care sites.

American Lung Association
Conducts programs addressing smoking cessation, prevention and the protection of nonsmokers' health. Provides a variety of educational materials for the public and health professionals.

American Medical Association

Americans for Nonsmokers Rights
A national organization dedicated to nonsmokers' rights with information about secondhand smoke, tobacco industry influence and preemption.

Tobacco-related research, data and reports organized by topic. The Surgeon General's reports are also available.

Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids
A national site dedicated to preventing youth smoking.

Environmental Protection Agency
Contains information about secondhand smoke and indoor air quality.

National Association of Attorneys General
Includes a tobacco settlement page with the full text of the multistate settlement agreement, a summary of the settlment and other related information.

National Cancer Institute
Contains a report on secondhand smoke.

National Conference of State Legislatures
This Web site offers analysis and summaries, and the NCSL's position on tobacco.

National Institutes of Health PubMed
A searchable database of health and medical journals.

Smokefree.Net
A list of forums and mailing lists dedicated to reducing the harm caused by tobacco throughout the U.S.

The STATE System

The CDC's Office on Smoking and Health updates the STATE database (State Tobacco Activities Tracking and Evaluation) with state-level data on tobacco use prevention and control including sections on Advertising Restrictions, Excise Tax, Licensure, Preemption, Smokefree Indoor Air and Youth Access Legislation, Tobacco Agriculture, Demographics, National Investment, and Cigarette Sales.

State of Florida
Information about Florida's tobacco control programs.

State of Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Tobacco Control Program (MTCP) is a statewide government program dedicated to addressing the severe health risks associated with tobacco use.

Tobacco Control Archives

Created by the American Legacy Foundation and maintained by the University of California San Francisco, this archive includes papers, unpublished documents, and electronic resources relevant to tobacco control issues.  The electronic collection includes many millions of documents concerning scientific research, manufacturing, marketing, advertising, and sales of cigarettes. Tobacco Technical Assistance Consortium (TTAC)
TTAC is an independant, nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting national, state, and community-based organizations in building and growing highly effective tobacco control programs.

The Truth
The Truth is the national youth movement against tobacco.

U.S. Department of Agriculture
The Tobacco Briefing Room, Economic Research Service, offers a wide range of federal data on cigarettes and tobacco, including production and consumption figures, prices and tax revenues.

Action on Smoking and Health
A national organization for people concerned about smoking and nonsmokers rights, smoking statistics, cessation, smoking risks and other information.

The resource center produces anti-tobacco advertisements for television, radio, print, and outdoor use.
Any nonprofit health-related organization or state or local government agency may license the ads, and staff are available to assist organizations in developing and implementing a successful media campaigns.
